
NEW YORK, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Javier Vazquez and three Marlins relievers teamed up for a six-hit shutout Tuesday and Florida dominated the New York Mets 6-0.
Vazquez (8-11) scattered three hits over seven frames, walking one and striking out six while breaking a personal five-start winless streak.
Edward Mujica and Mike Dunn combined for a scoreless eighth and Leo Nunez completed the whitewash in the ninth for the Marlins, who had lost the first two games of a five-game series with the Mets.
Florida broke open a scoreless tie with five runs in the seventh, highlighted by Logan Morrison's two-run single. Emilio Bonifacio, Greg Dobbs and Gaby Sanchez also drove in runs in the big inning.
New York's Mike Pelfrey (7-11) was touched for four runs on six hits before exiting after six-plus innings.
