
CHICAGO, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Alejandro De Aza had a three-run homer in the fourth inning Tuesday and the Chicago White Sox scored five runs in the fifth to beat Minnesota 8-6.
Gordon Beckham was plunked by Alex Burnett with the bases loaded, driving in the decisive run that kept the Sox five games behind first-place Detroit in the American League Central.
The Chicago bullpen kept the Twins off the board after a three-run fifth inning that had given Minnesota a 6-3 advantage. Will Ohman (1-3) recorded the final out of the inning for his first win of the season, and Sergio Santos pitched the ninth for his 28th save.
De Aza finished with four RBI. Paul Konerko had an RBI single in the fifth.
Minnesota was led by Jason Kubel, who had three RBI, and Joe Mauer, who went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Anthony Swarzak (3-5) took the loss in a start that lasted 4 2/3 innings. Swarzak surrendered eight runs -- six earned - on six hits.
