LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Former Washington Wizards player Javaris Crittenton was arrested in California in connection with a slaying in Atlanta, an FBI spokeswoman said.
A task force of FBI agents and Los Angeles Fire Department officers took Crittenton into custody Monday evening at John Wayne International Airport in Orange County, the Los Angeles Times reported.
A homicide warrant was issued for Crittenton, 23, following the fatal shooting Aug. 19 of Jullian Jones as she stood outside her Atlanta home with two other people.
Jones was hit multiple times by bullets fired from the driver's side of a sport utility vehicle.
Homicide detectives said Crittenton was trying to shoot someone he believed had stolen jewelry from him.
Crittenton's NBA career sputtered with the Wizards in 2009 when he and then-teammate Gilbert Arenas pulled guns on each other.
He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2007, traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in his rookie year and then went to the Wizards.
