Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CINCINNATI, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Cincinnati Bengals rusher Cedric Benson will serve 20 days in jail for two misdemeanor assaults in Texas, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Monday.
The newspaper said Benson pleaded no contest to an assault charge in a 2010 incident involving an employee in an Austin bar. He also pleaded to an assault charge arising from a July 17 incident with a former roommate.
The Enquirer said Benson will turn himself in Oct. 17, one day after the Bengals play a home game against Indianapolis. Cincinnati has a bye the following week.
That schedule would mean Benson should miss only one or two practices and be available for the Bengals' Oct. 30 game at Seattle.
