TORONTO, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- B.J. Upton socked a three-run homer and Sean Rodriguez added a pair of RBI Saturday in the Tampa Bay Rays' 6-5 win over Toronto.
Upton's blast in the seventh inning extended Tampa Bay's lead from 3-2 to 6-2 and provided the difference as the Rays won their third straight game against the Blue Jays.
Rodriguez collected three hits, including a two-run double in the fourth, and Elliot Johnson went 3-for-4 with an RBI single for the victors.
Jeff Niemann (9-5) earned the victory, yielding three runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings while walking two and striking out six. The right-hander improved to 8-1 since returning from the disabled list.
Joel Peralta earned his second save after Eric Thames and Edwin Encarnacion each hit solo homers in the eighth for the Blue Jays, cutting the Rays' lead to one run.
Toronto's Shawn Camp (1-3) was charged with the loss.
