CINCINNATI, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Drew Stubbs had three hits and drove in a run Saturday during a big third inning that carried the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-3 decision over Washington.
Stubbs and Miguel Cairo each delivered sacrifice flies and the Reds got another run on a throwing error by Washington rookie first baseman Chris Marrero in the third, when the Reds surged into the lead.
Brandon Phillips went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Cincinnati, which moved to .500 (66-66) for the first time since July 6.
Mike Leake (11-8) pitched six innings for the victory, surrendering two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four.
The Nationals' Ross Detwiler (2-4) lost for the fourth time in five starts, coughing up six runs (three earned) on eight hits over six frames.
Washington lost its fifth straight despite solo homers from Wilson Ramos, Jayson Werth and Michael Morse.
Marrero stroked a single in the fourth inning for his first major league hit.
