Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SEATTLE, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Brent Lillibridge broke a fifth-inning tie with a two-run homer Friday and the Chicago White Sox went on to down Seattle 4-2.
Juan Pierre beat out a bunt single to open the fifth against Charlie Furbush (3-6) and Lillibridge followed with a homer to left on a 1-1 pitch. It was the 12th homer of the year for Lillibridge, 10 more than he had in any of his three previous major league seasons.
The home run made a winner out of Jake Peavy (6-6), who gave up two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts in six innings.
Chris Sale allowed a leadoff single to Ichiro Suzuki in the ninth, but was perfect the rest of the way while collecting his fifth save.
