BALTIMORE, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Mark Reynolds and J.J. Hardy both homered during a six-run second inning Friday that started Baltimore on its way to a 12-5 win over the New York Yankees.
The Orioles roughed up A.J. Burnett for nine runs in five innings and extended their winning streak to five games.
Reynolds opened the scoring with his 30th homer of the season and Baltimore got three run-scoring doubles in the big second inning. Hardy closed out the frame with a two-run shot, his 25th.
Hardy also drove in a run in the fourth with a fielder's choice grounder while Baltimore was building a 12-1 lead. Matt Wieters contributed a three-run blast in the sixth.
Tommy Hunter (3-2) coasted to the win, giving up four runs in seven innings.
The nine runs allowed by Burnett (9-11) equaled the most he has allowed in a major league game. In five starts during August, Burnett endured an 11.91 earned run average. He gave up six homers and 44 hits during the month.
Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada and Nick Swisher all hit home runs for the Yankees.
