TORONTO, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Billy Butler had four of Kansas City's 16 hits and doubled home two runs Thursday in pacing the Royals to a 9-6 win over Toronto.
Kansas City built a 5-0 lead, and then fought off a late Toronto comeback bid to take two out of three in the series.
The Blue Jays scored twice in each of the last three innings, including a two-run homer by Edwin Encarnacion in the ninth.
Butler's two-run double in the eighth helped the Royals hold onto their lead. Mike Moustakas contributed an RBI single in the fourth and then doubled home a run in the ninth.
Jeff Francis (5-14) won for the first time in a month. He went six-plus innings while giving up two runs on six hits.
Brett Cecil (4-7) was touched for five runs on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings to take the loss. Toronto has dropped four of its last six.
