Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Alfredo Simon tossed eight innings of one-run ball and Nolan Reimold hit a three-run homer Tuesday in the Baltimore Orioles' 8-1 rout of Minnesota.
Simon (4-6) allowed only three hits, issued a single walk and struck out eight for the Orioles, who won their second straight in a four-game series against Minnesota.
Reimold's blast in the second inning gave Baltimore a 4-0 lead and Mark Reynolds (3-for-5, three RBI) added a two-run triple in the next frame to put the contest away.
Minnesota's Brian Duensing (8-13) was rocked for seven runs on nine hits and a walk in just two-plus innings.
Danny Valencia accounted for the Twins' only run with a solo homer.
