Roddick, Isner log wins at Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Andy Roddick and John Isner, a North Carolina native, each logged second-round wins Tuesday at the Winston-Salem Open.

Roddick, playing in his initial match after a first-round bye, fired 11 aces in breezing past Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-2, 6-4 in a 73-minute match.

And Isner, who grew up in nearby Greensboro, N.C., racked up 17 aces at Wake Forest University en route to a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 triumph over Israeli Dudi Sela.

Also Tuesday, No. 3 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine moved on with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Argentine Carlos Berlocq and fifth-seeded Nikolay Davydenko of Russia completed 6-2, 6-2 victory over American qualifier Michael Russell to reach the third round.

No. 10 seed Robin Haase of the Netherlands, seventh-seeded Argentine Juan Monaco and No. 9 Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky also were among Tuesday's winners.
