ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Jhonny Peralta drove in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly Tuesday, boosting the Detroit Tigers to a 2-1 win over Tampa Bay.
After trailing 1-0 for much of the game, the Tigers got singles from Delmon Young and Miguel Cabrera to start the seventh. Young was thrown out at the plate on a Victor Martinez grounder.
A wild pitch from Rays starter David Price (11-11) put runners on second and third with one out and Alex Avila followed with a run-scoring single to tie the game. Peralta's sac fly then chased home Martinez and the American League Central-leading Tigers posted their fifth straight win.
Brad Penny (9-9) limited Tampa Bay to one run on eight hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings. Phil Coke hurled two scoreless innings to pick up his first save of the year.
Ben Zobrist had two hits and an RBI for the Rays.
