DENVER, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Jhoulys Chacin logged a strong start and added a two-run double during a big first inning Monday in the Colorado Rockies' 9-5 victory over Houston.
Chacin (10-10) allowed only one run despite surrendering 11 hits. He won for just the second time in 12 starts.
The right-hander helped himself at the plate, driving in Ty Wigginton and Chris Iannetta with a two-bagger to cap a six-run first inning.
Carlos Gonzalez delivered a two-run double in the frame and later added a homer for a total of three RBI. The hot-hitting Rockies outfielder has knocked in 14 runs in seven games.
