Rookie Dave Sappelt (3-for-5) smacked a two-run double with one out in the ninth to drive in his first career RBI and tie the score.
Jay Bruce was intentionally walked and after Miguel Cairo fanned, Alonso (3-for-4, four RBI) provided a two-run double for the go-ahead runs.
Aroldis Chapman (3-1) earned the victory after getting the last out in the bottom of the eighth and Francisco Cordero collected his 27th save for the Reds.
