Man says was beaten at Randolph's home

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Police raided the Oregon home of Memphis Grizzlies star Zach Randolph after a Portland man claimed he was beaten there this past the weekend, authorities said.

Sgt. James Rhodes, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said a search warrant was obtained Saturday for Randolph's $1.47 million mansion in West Linn after James Ruben Beasley claimed members of Randolph's entourage beat him bloody with pool cues.

Beasley alleges he was hired by Randolph during a charter cruise on Portland's Willamette River to sell marijuana at a party the player was having later that night at his home, The Oregonian reported.

Rhodes said Beasley didn't call police after the alleged beating but instead went to local hospital to receive treatment for head wounds and was released. He later called police who obtained a warrant to search the home.

No drugs were found during the search but blood evidence and pool cues were seized, the newspaper said.

Rhodes said Beasley claims Randolph, who played for the Portland Trailblazers from 2001-07, wasn't involved in the beating.

The forward was traded to the New York Knicks and later played for Los Angeles Clippers before signing a two-year deal with the Grizzlies.
