ST. LOUIS, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Josh Brown's 42-yard field goal on the last play of the game Saturday lifted the St. Louis Cardinals to a 17-16 victory over Tennessee.
The winning kick was set up when second-year quarterback Thaddeus Lewis marched the Rams down the field on a 12-play, 67-yard drive, with the key play a 12-yard pass to Mardy Gilyard for a first down at the Tennessee 23.
Rams starting signal-caller Sam Bradford hit Brandon Gibson with an 83-yard touchdown on his first pass of the night, but his third pass was intercepted by Alterraun Verner.
Bradford finished 8-of-15 for 138 yards.
Titans starter Matt Hasselbeck, meanwhile, went 7-of-9 through the air for 74 yards. He came off the field in the second quarter after having the wind knocked out of him.
Jake Locker entered and went 8-of-18 for 82 yards for Tennessee.
