
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Plaxico Burress hauled down a 26-yard touchdown pass in his Jets debut Sunday and New York handled Cincinnati 27-7 in a pre-season contest.
Burress, who signed with New York after serving a 20-month prison sentence on a gun charge, made his first appearance after sitting out the Jets' first pre-season game due to an ankle injury.
He collected three passes in all for 66 yards, while quarterback Mark Sanchez went 12-of-20 passing for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
Jets rookie Greg McElroy then entered the game behind center and connected on 6-of-9 passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.
The Bengals were led by rookie Andy Dalton, who completed 8-of-19 passes for 86 yards and two interceptions.
Bruce Gradkowski later went 3-of-7 through the air for 50 yards and a pick-off, and Brian Leonard ran the ball five times for 16 yards and a TD.
