HOUSTON, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Wandy Rodriguez struck out eight over eight innings Friday and carried the Houston Astros to their third straight victory, a 6-0 decision over San Francisco.
The Astros, a team likely headed for a 100-loss campaign, have won three in a row. That is just one short of their longest winning streak of the season, a four-game run they produced during the first week in June.
Rodriguez (9-9) allowed five hits, walked two and struck out eight. He also delivered a two-run single during a three-run sixth that gave Houston a 5-0 lead.
Brian Bogusevic added a solo homer in the eighth.
The loss went to Ryan Vogelsong (10-3), who gave up five runs on four hits in seven innings.
San Francisco lost for the fourth time in five outings, but remained 2 1/2 games behind first-place Arizona in the National League West when the Diamondbacks fell to Atlanta.
