Rain forces Watkins Glen race postponement

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Rainy conditions Sunday forced the postponement of the Sprint Cup Series event scheduled for the Watkins Glen International road course.

Race officials said the race would instead be run 10 a.m. EDT Monday.

The decision to postpone was made late Sunday afternoon, more than three hours after the scheduled start time, as persistent rain showers became heavier.
