TORONTO, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Edwin Encarnacion stroked a game-winning RBI single in the 10th inning Sunday and the Toronto Blue Jays edged the Los Angeles Angels 5-4.
Encarnacion's decisive hit off Hisanori Takahashi plated Yunel Escobar and came after the Blue Jays had tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on back-to-back doubles by Colby Rasmus and Brett Lawrie.
Jon Rauch (5-3) earned the victory after tossing a scoreless top of the 10th, following shutout relief frames from Casey Janssen and Frank Francisco.
Toronto also got back-to-back homers from Eric Thames and Jose Bautista the fourth inning en route to claiming the rubber match of a three-game series with the Angels.
Fernando Rodney (2-6) was saddled with the loss for Los Angeles, which came into the contest trailing Texas in the American League West by three games.
Torii Hunter cracked a two-run homer for the Halos.
