MLB: Texas 7, Oakland 6

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- David Murphy singled home the go-ahead run in the ninth inning Sunday, propelling the Texas Rangers to a 7-6 win and a series sweep of Oakland.

The Athletics rallied for four runs in the sixth inning to knot the score at 6-6, but Texas came back when pinch-runner Craig Gentry stole second with two outs in the ninth and came home on Murphy's hit off Andrew Bailey (0-3).

The late run made a winner of Mike Adams (1-1), who tossed a scoreless eighth, and Nefatli Feliz secured the Rangers' win with a 1-2-3 ninth for his 23rd save.

The victory gave the first-place Rangers their eighth straight win over Oakland and improved their lead over the second-place Los Angeles Angels to four games in the American League West.

Brandon Allen went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and Jemile Weeks added an RBI for the A's.
