WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Chris Pontius scored twice and Dwayne De Rosario had two assists Saturday in D.C. United's 4-0 rout of Vancouver.
Pontius broke up a scoreless tie just before halftime off an assist from De Rosario and D.C. piled on three more goals after the break.
Andy Najar and Stephen King also tallied for United (7-6-9), which clinched a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference and climbed to within one point of Red Bull New York for third place.
Vancouver (3-12-9), meanwhile, failed again to notch its first road victory of the year and lost for the ninth time in away matches.
