PHOENIX, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Wandy Rodriguez tossed six shutout innings and J.D. Martinez cranked a three-run homer Monday in the Houston Astros' 9-1 rout of Arizona.
Rodriguez (8-8) yielded only two hits, overcame four walks and struck out five for Houston, which snapped a three-game losing streak to the Diamondbacks.
Martinez homered in the first inning and Carlos Corporan added a two-run double later in the frame to help the Astros build a 5-0.
Matt Downs went 3-for-5 with an RBI double and Jimmy Paredes drove in two runs as Houston banged out 16 hits.
Arizona's Daniel Hudson (11-8) was rocked for seven runs (four earned) on 11 hits over just three innings.
Henry Blanco's solo homer provided the only run for the Diamondbacks, who entered the contest one-half game behind first-place San Francisco the National League West.
