Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SANDY, Utah, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Nat Borchers and Luis Gil scored first-half goals Saturday, staking Real Salt Lake to a 3-0 victory over Red Bull New York.
RSL (10-5-6) got all the scoring it would need when Borchers headed a Kyle Beckerman corner kick into the left side of the net in the 13th minute, leaving New York goalie Frank Rost without a chance.
The 17-year-old Gil made it 2-0 in the 44th with his first MLS goal, firing a bullet into the lower right corner.
Alvaro Saborio also tallied in the 77th minute for Salt Lake, which bounced back from two consecutive losses.
New York (6-6-12) has just two wins since starting the season 4-0-2.
