ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Elvis Andrus' two-run single keyed Texas' eighth-inning surge Sunday and the Rangers posted a 5-3 come-from-behind win over Cleveland.
Trailing 3-0 heading into the eighth, Texas sent nine men to the plate en route to five runs, grabbing control of the contest.
Josh Tomlin had put up seven innings of shutout ball before issuing a lead-off walk to Mike Napoli and a single to Mitch Moreland. Joe Smith (2-3) came in to relieve and yielded consecutive singles to Yorvit Torrealba and David Murphy for a run.
Smith then issued a bases-loaded walk to Ian Kinsler before Andrus put the Rangers ahead with his two-run single.
The rally made a winner of Darren Oliver (4-5), who got the final two outs in the eighth, and Mike Adams notched his first save as Texas maintained a one-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels atop the American League West.
Michael Brantley drove in runs with a solo homer and triple for the Tribe, who fell to .500 (56-56) and dropped four games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central.
