
ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Ervin Santana outdueled Seattle's Felix Hernandez Sunday, going 8 1/3 solid innings in the Los Angeles Angels' 2-1 win over the Mariners.
Santana (8-8) spread out seven hits, allowing just one run on Mike Carp's solo homer with one out in the ninth.
The Angels right-hander earned his fifth straight winning decision while walking one and striking out seven.
Jordan Walden retired the final two batters to collect his 25th save, securing the Angels' third win in their last four games.
Mark Trumbo socked a solo homer and Vernon Wells added an RBI single for Los Angeles.
Hernandez (10-10), meanwhile, notched his third complete game of the season in the hard-luck loss, surrendering two runs on four hits with 12 strikeouts.
