CHICAGO, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Ryan Hanigan's run-scoring single in the eighth inning proved decisive Sunday in the Cincinnati Reds' seesaw 8-7 win over the Chicago Cubs.
Cincinnati had rallied to tie the score earlier in the frame on Todd Frazier's RBI double off Chicago's Sean Marshall (5-5).
The Reds third baseman finished the day 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while Edgar Renteria added a two-run homer and Drew Stubbs chipped in a solo shot.
The victory went to Nick Masset (2-5) after he recorded the final out of the seventh. Francisco Cordero racked up his 20th save with a 1-2-3 ninth for the Reds, who avoided a three-game sweep at Wrigley Field.
Blake DeWitt smacked a two-run homer, Starlin Castro hit a solo blast and Marlon Byrd went 3-for-3 with two RBI as the Cubs saw their seven-game winning streak snapped.
