Haas breaks drought with 3M victory

BLAINE, Minn., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Jay Haas broke a two-year championship drought Sunday, firing a 4-under 68 to win the 3M Championship by a single stroke.

Haas logged his 15th career Champions Tour win, but he had to wait since the 2009 Senior Players Championship to earn it. He became the 15th player in tour history to reach the 15-win mark.

Haas carded six birdies and two bogeys Sunday to finish at 15-under 201 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn.

That was just good enough to edge Kenny Perry (66), Tom Lehman (68) and second-round co-leader Peter Senior (70), all of whom finished at 14-under 202.

Coming in fifth at minus-13 was Hal Sutton, while the second round co-leader John Huston stumbled to a 1-over 73, ending in eighth at 11-under.
