MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Zach Stewart came up from the minors and tamed Minnesota on one run Saturday, hurling the Chicago White Sox to a 6-1 win over the Twins.
Stewart (1-1) was recalled from Class AAA Charlotte before the game and handled the Twins on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings, walking one and striking out two in his fourth career start.
Stewart was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays along with Jason Frasor in a July 27 trade for pitcher Edwin Jackson and infielder Mark Teahen.
Paul Konerko and Brent Lillibridge each knocked in two runs for the Chisox, who clinched their three-game series with the Twins after losing six straight times to Minnesota entering the series.
Carl Pavano (6-9) allowed only one earned run on nine hits over eight frames but absorbed the loss for the Twins.
Danny Valencia got Minnesota's only RBI.
