MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Carlos Quentin hit two homers and drove in four runs Friday in rallying the Chicago White Sox to a 5-3 victory over Minnesota.
Chicago ended a six-game losing streak and defeated the Twins for only the second time in nine meetings this season.
A fielder's choice grounder by Quentin drove in a run in the first inning but Minnesota took the lead by scoring three times in the bottom of the inning. Jason Kubel produced two of the runs with a homer.
Quentin then hit a solo shot in the third and his two-run blast in the fifth put Chicago in front. His home run total for the season has reached 23.
Chicago got an insurance run in the eighth when Alexei Ramirez dashed in from third on a wild pitch.
Mark Buehrle (9-5) went eight innings to get the win. All three of the first-inning runs he allowed were unearned. Buehrle is unbeaten in his last eight starts.
Chris Sale worked the ninth for his third save.
Nick Blackburn (7-9) was charged with the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits with six walks in 5 1/3 innings.
