SAN DIEGO, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Jason Bartlett scored twice Wednesday and the San Diego salvaged the finale of a three-game series with a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Bartlett homered in the sixth inning for the game's first run and came in on a single by Jesus Guzman in the eighth.
Tim Stauffer and three relievers combined to limit the Dodgers to six hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Stauffer was relieved with one out in the seventh with the Dodgers having loaded the bases with one away. Josh Spence came on to escape the jam with no damage, Chad Qualls struck out two during a perfect eighth and Heath Bell retired the side in order in the ninth for his 31st save.
The only run scored off Los Angeles starter Ted Lilly (7-11) was Bartlett's homer, but Lilly still suffered his sixth loss in nine starts.
