Top seeds move on at Mercury Open

CARLSBAD, Calif., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The top three seeds all advanced in Tuesday's second round of the Mercury Insurance Open women's tennis tournament in Southern California.

Top-seeded Vera Zvonareva of Russia eliminated Jill Craybas of the United States 6-4, 7-5.

Zvonareva served up three aces and won 73 percent of her first-point serves.

Third-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland defeated Britain's Elena Baltacha 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) and second-seeded Andrea Petkovic of Germany knocked off American Alexa Glatch 6-3, 6-4 in the final match of the night.
