WASHINGTON, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Dan Uggla hit a three-run home run and extended his hitting streak to 25 games Wednesday in helping Atlanta to a 6-4 win over the Washington Nationals.

Uggla's first-inning single, which contributed to a two-run rally, pushed his streak to a career-best 25 games. It's the longest active streak in the majors and six games short of the Braves' franchise record.

His home run came in the fifth and put Atlanta ahead 6-0, allowing Braves starter Brandon Beachy (5-2) to survive a shaky sixth inning and collect the win. Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth for his 32nd save.

All the Braves runs and six of their seven hits came off Washington starter Chien-Ming Wang (0-2). Only two of the runs were earned, however.

Michael Bourn opened the game with a single, stole second and took third on one groundout and scored an on another. Uggla then reached on an infield hit and scored on an Alex Gonzalez single.

Beachy reached on an error by Wang to open the Atlanta fifth. Jose Constanza singled and after a force out, Beachy was out at home on a fielder's choice. Then Freddie Freeman delivered an RBI single just ahead of Uggla's three-run shot.

Washington scored its runs in the sixth with two singles, a walk, two wild pitches and a two-run home run by Jayson Werth.
