Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Justin Upton and Paul Goldschmidt both hit two-run homers Tuesday in the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1 win over San Francisco.
Arizona's eighth win in its last 10 games pulled it into a tie with the Giants atop the National League West.
Daniel Hudson (11-7) went eight innings for the win, allowing one run on six hits and striking out five.
Tim Lincecum (9-9) took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits over seven innings. He struck out eight and issued three walks.
The Giants kept the game close until the eighth inning when Arizona scored two runs and then tacked on another two runs in the ninth.
Pablo Sandoval went 3-for-4 and drove in San Francisco's only run with a double in the fourth inning.
