KITZBUHEL, Austria, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela used a three-set victory Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Bet-at-Home Cup tennis tournament in Austria.
Chela needed three breaks of serve to win the first set and his fourth break was the difference in the third set in a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over Daniel Gimeno-Traver. Chela lost only nine points in his five third-set service games.
His was one of three matches to be completed before rain hit and play was suspended. Three of Wednesday's scheduled eight matches didn't even get started and two were in progress when play was stopped. It was unclear how organizers would deal with the backup in play. The tournament finals are scheduled for Saturday.
Santiago Giraldo ousted No. 4-seeded Fabio Fognini 6-3, 6-4. Giraldo cashed in five of his nine break-point chances, overcoming three service breaks by Fognini.
Sixth-seeded Andreas Seppi got his match in, however, beating Pere Riba 7-5, 6-2. Seppi broke Riba's serve five times in 11 receiving games.
