Prosecutors: Giants fan attacked from rear

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- A man charged with beating a Giants fan outside Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles pursued the victim as he tried to escape, prosecutors said Monday.

Louie Sanchez, 29, is being held on $500,000 bail. Prosecutors described his alleged assault on Bryan Stow in a court filing Monday asking a judge to refuse a motion to reduce the bail, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Stow, 42, who wore a Giants shirt to the opening day game between San Francisco and Los Angeles Dodgers, suffered brain damage when he was knocked to the ground. Prosecutors said Sanchez attacked him from behind.

"When Stow's head hit the ground, witnesses heard his head impact the concrete and saw it bounce," the prosecutors said.

Sanchez and his friend, Marvin Norwood, 30, are charged with mayhem and assault.

Prosecutors Michele Hanisee and Frank Santoro said in their filing that Sanchez has a long history of violence that suggests he is unable to control his behavior. Inside the stadium, Norwood had to stop him from assaulting a man who objected when Sanchez splashed soda on his female companion, prosecutors said.
