PITTSBURGH, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Alfonso Soriano belted a pair of homers Tuesday and the Chicago Cubs went deep six times en route to an 11-6 victory over Pittsburgh.
Tyler Colvin hit a solo shot and Aramis Ramirez (four RBI) added a three-run blast in the second inning while Geovany Soto and Soriano each contributed bases-empty clouts in the next frame for an 8-2 Cubs lead.
But Chicago wasn't through as Marlon Byrd and Soriano both blasted solo homers in the fourth.
Colvin, Darwin Barney and Starlin Castro each racked up three hits for the Cubs, who banged out 21 hits and handed the slumping Pirates their fifth straight loss.
Randy Wells (3-4) went six innings to collect the victory, surrendering two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven.
Pirates starter Kevin Correia (12-9) allowed four homers and eight runs overall. The right-hander was rocked for 10 hits in just two innings of work.
Garrett Jones homered twice and added a sacrifice fly, driving in four runs for the Bucs.
