TEMPE, Ariz., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb has signed a contract that ties him to the team for six seasons.

The NFL club didn't say how much it will pay Kolb, who was obtained from Philadelphia last week. However, reports at the time of his trade indicated the pact is worth more than $63 million, with more than $20 million guaranteed.

Kolb was mostly a backup quarterback with the Eagles but is now poised to assume the starter's role with the Cardinals. He has played only 19 games in the NFL, passing for 2,082 yards with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

In other moves, Arizona released cornerback Tae Evans, running back William Powell and guard Greg Niland. All three were signed as rookie free agents.
