Report: Randy Moss to retire

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- NFL wide receiver Randy Moss has decided to retire, ESPN and NFL.com reported Monday.

Moss, 34, began last season with New England before being dealt to Minnesota, where he lasted just weeks before being placed on waivers and was claimed by Tennessee. He failed to reach a deal with any NFL club during the off-season.

Moss, who began his pro career with the Vikings and also played for Oakland, has 954 career receptions for 14,858 yards. His 23 TD catches in his first season with the Patriots is an NFL single-season record.

His 153 career scoring receptions tie him with Terrell Owens for second place on the all-time list behind Jerry Rice's 197.
