HOUSTON, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Humberto Quintero scored from third on a fielder's choice grounder in the 10th inning Monday, lifting the Houston Astros to a 4-3 win over Cincinnati.
Quintero led off the bottom of the 10th with a single off Lyle Ondrusek (4-4) and went to third on Angel Sanchez's pinch-hit single. Brian Bogusevic was intentionally walked to load the bases and Cincinnati brought its infield in.
Jose Altuve came up and hit a sharp grounder that second baseman Brandon Phillips snared, but his throw home was low and catcher Ryan Hanigan couldn't handle it cleanly, allowing Quintero to score the game-winner.
Mark Melancon (6-3) earned the victory with two scoreless innings of relief for the Astros, who won the first of a three-game set against Cincinnati.
Reds starter Bronson Arroyo went eight innings, yielding three runs on six hits.
Phillips and Joey Votto each had two hits and an RBI in the Reds' loss, which dropped them 7 1/2 game behind first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central.
