The A's erased a 2-1 deficit with two runs in the second inning and made it made it 4-2 in the fifth when Ryan Sweeney's infield hit scored Hideki Matsui.

Nick Blackburn (7-8) then issued Cliff Pennington an intentional pass to load the bases and Sizemore's grounder down the third-base line eluded Minnesota's Danny Valencia, allowing all three runners to score to break the game open.

Blackburn exited after 4 1/3 innings, extending a four-game winless streak. He surrendered seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and issued five walks.
