
CHICAGO, July 31 (UPI) -- Jon Lester yielded only four hits over eight innings Saturday and the Boston Red Sox banged out 15 hits in their 10-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Lester (11-4) let in a pair of runs, walked only one and struck out eight for the Red Sox, who snapped a seven-game losing streak to Chicago stretching back to last season.
Jerrod Saltalamacchia (2-for-4, two RBI) triggered a four-run fourth with an RBI single while Adrian Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and Kevin Youkilis added a solo shot and a run-scoring single for first-place Boston.
Chicago starter Phil Humber (8-7) was touched for four runs on six hits in a 4 2/3-inning effort.
Paul Konerko and Gordon Beckham socked solo homers for the White Sox, who fell three games behind Detroit in the American League Central.
