COLLEGE PARK, Md., July 30 (UPI) -- Shahar Peer of Israel and Russia's Nadia Petrova will compete for the Citi Open championship after both won their semifinal matches Saturday.

Peer, the event's top seed, had to battle but emerged with a 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 victory over No. 3 seed Tamira Paszek of Austria.

The second-seeded Petrova bounced back from a dropped first set to overcome American Irina Falconi, rallying to earn a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 decision.

Petrova hasn't won a WTA event since Quebec City in 2008, while Peer is seeking her first championship since the 2009 Tashkent Open.
