SAN DIEGO, July 30 (UPI) -- Huston Street finished off an outstanding effort by the Colorado bullpen Friday that brought the Rockies a 3-2 win over San Diego.
Five relievers combined to shut out the Padres over the final 2 2/3 innings after starter Jason Hammel (6-10) left the contest owning a one-run lead. Neither side scored over the final six innings.
Street struck out the first two batters in the ninth, then gave up a double to Cameron Maybin. Orlando Hudson followed with a groundout back to Street, who earned his 28th save.
Hammel allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts to win for just the second time in seven starts. His last victory had come June 17 against Detroit.
Colorado scored all of its runs in the second inning with Ian Stewart and Chris Iannetta both producing RBI singles.
With Hammel at the plate, San Diego starter Tim Stauffer (6-8) committed a balk that brought in Stewart from third with what turned out to be the winning run.
Hudson and Chase Headley had RBI singles in the third for the Padres.
