CINCINNATI, July 30 (UPI) -- Edgar Renteria singled in Jay Bruce from second with one out in the 13th inning Friday, giving the Cincinnati Reds a 4-3 win over San Francisco.

The Reds ended a four-game losing streak, during which they have dropped 6 1/2 games behind division-leading Milwaukee in the National League Central.

San Francisco overcame a two-run deficit in the late innings and the game had been tied at 3-3 since the eighth when Giants closer Brian Wilson came on in the 13th.

Wilson (6-3) walked Bruce to open the inning and then, with one out, faced relief pitcher Jose Arredondo.

Arredondo, left in the game to hit due to the shortage of players remaining in the extra-inning game, was making his 124th career relief appearance and had never had a major league at-bat.

He proceeded to single left, moving Bruce to second. Renteria, in his 16th major league season and a member of last year's San Francisco team that won the World Series, then singled to right on a 1-2 pitch to drive in the winning run.

Arredondo (2-3), who recently came off the disabled list, needed just four pitches to retire the side in the top of the 13th en route to the victory.

Carlos Beltran, obtained by the Giants in a trade with the New York Mets this week, went 1-for-5 with an RBI. It was his first hit in a San Francisco uniform.
