NEW YORK, July 30 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Santonio Holmes has signed a new, five-year contract with the New York Jets, the team announced Saturday.

Terms of the deal weren't announced but the contract has been reported to be worth $50 million.

Holmes finished with 52 catches for 746 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games last season after missing the first four contests due to a suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Holmes was a key part of the Jets' playoff drive, especially during a three-game stretch in November.

Holmes, 27, was acquired from Pittsburgh in 2010 after spending his first four seasons with the Steelers. He was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII after catching the winning touchdown pass with 35 seconds left in a victory over Arizona, but his legal troubles prompted the Steelers to trade him.

He has 287 catches for 4,581 yards with 26 touchdowns in five NFL seasons.
