CHICAGO, July 29 (UPI) -- A.J. Pierzynski snapped a seventh-inning tie with a two-run homer Friday, lifting the Chicago White Sox past Boston 3-1.
Chicago prevented Tim Wakefield from recording his 200th career win and Boston's Dustin Pedroia had his 25-game hitting streak come to a halt.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a solo homer for the Red Sox in the third and Paul Konerko tied it in the sixth with a sacrifice fly.
Wakefield (6-4) was still on the mound in the seventh when Carlos Quentin drew a leadoff walk and Pierzynski followed with his fifth homer of the year.
Gavin Floyd (9-9) gave up three hits and a run over seven innings to get the win. Sergio Santos was perfect in the ninth while picking up his 22nd save.
Pedroia went 0-for-4 and failed to reach base for the first time in 37 games.
