Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, July 28 (UPI) -- The Chicago Cubs have traded outfielder Kosuke Fukudome to Cleveland for two minor league players.
Fukudome, 34, will boost the Indians' injury-plagued outfield, with both Grady Sizemore and Shin-Soo Choo out of the lineup. He is in the final year of a four-year contract worth $48 million and has played 87 games this season with a .273 average, four home runs and 13 RBI.
Outfielder Abner Abreu, 21, who is going to the Cubs, has a .244 average with single-A Kinston. Carlton Smith, 25, has a 36-28 record in seven seasons in the minors and is currently with Triple-A Columbus.
