Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SAN DIEGO, July 27 (UPI) -- Joe Saunders scattered six hits in a complete game victory Tuesday and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat San Diego 6-1.
Saunders (7-8) struck out four while shutting out the Padres until a ninth-inning solo home run by Jesus Guzman.
Kelly Johnson had three hits and two RBI for the Diamondbacks, who have won three consecutive games. Willie Bloomquist went 3-for-5 and scored twice.
Dustin Moseley (3-10) took the loss, giving up five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits in seven innings.
Guzman and Chase Headley both had a pair of hits for the Padres, who have lost four of their last five.
