NEW YORK, July 26 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter each drove in three runs Monday and the New York Yankees handed Seattle its 16th straight loss in a 10-3 rout.
Teixeira's two-run homer in the first inning set the tone for the evening and Jeter's solo blast in the third put New York ahead 3-1.
The Yankees then broke it open with five more in the fourth, aided by a Dustin Ackley throwing error that allowed Eduardo Nunez to score from third, and New York improved to 16-4 at home since June 10.
Freddy Garcia (9-7) went 7 2/3 innings to earn the victory, allowing three runs on eight hits while issuing only one walk and fanning five.
Seattle's Jason Vargas (6-9) was victimized by four unearned runs, surrendering seven hits over four innings as the Mariners failed again to win their first game since July 5.
Ichiro Suzuki, Brandon Ryan and Justin Smoak drove in runs for the reeling Mariners.
